Turn Over the Page

This unique trail took place around Shoreditch on March 30th, on a rare sunny day. About 300 people took part and discovered writers and surprising activities for all ages, not to mention 50 hidden books en route. Part of the Get London Reading Challenge, it was a joint venture by the Friends, North Brick Lane Residents Association, Rochelle School, the Wonder Garden and St Hilda’s. The full programme can be found on www.turnoverthepages.wordpress.com

Crystal Palace Band

A fabulous afternoon, serenaded by Crystal Palace band. In April 20th on Arnold Circus. Sitting on deckchairs with cups of tea and cake, listening to the strains of the band, as a number of small children danced spontaneously to the music.

Carrom Contest

Who will walk away with the silver cup this year, the 4th year of the contest? If you were there in May 24th you’ll have seen a hot contest, and know that 11 year old Juber Islam finally walked away with the silver cup. Missed out on this one? We have now bought our own carrom boards, and will have them up on events. So if you want to have a go and test your fingers, this is your chance.

Midsummer Concert

Get into the mood of the Summer Solstice with the Freylekh Klezmer Dance Band on June 21st, 2.30-5,30pm. Klezmer music is energetic, joyful and infectious – traditionally played at Jewish weddings. No wonder the band’s name means ‘Happy’. We’re planning bagels to help celebrate the Jewish past of Arnold Circus when it was provided a home to people fleeing persecution in Eastern Europe.

Arnold Circus Sharing Picnic

The big day for everyone to come with their picnics and one dish to put on the sharing table for other people to sample. Storytelling, donkeys, music, food and friendliness. And the 100 Laps Challenge Around the Circus for a grand finale. July 20th, 3pm on.
