Muslim Women Sing Out!

April 30, 2009

Whoever said that Muslim women are silent? Ulfah Arts  http://www.ulfaharts.co.uk has put together a powerful group of female singers to show them just how wrong they can be. Muslim Women Make Music will be performing at Rich Mix on Tuesday 12th May with women from Denmark, Holland and our own Sarah Sayeed (who has just set up her own record label) from this country.

Ulfah Arts and Friends of Arnold Circus have partnered to arrange a linked workshop for women at 1pm May 12th at St Hilda’s East Community Centre, 18 Club Row, run by Ulfah and some of the women performers. It’s going to be based on the classic Islamic Poem of the Cloak and will be a very special event. Places are free, and all types of voices are welcome and a creche is also available. But there is limited space, so call Sabeha on 07 739 8006 (or sabeha@sthildas.org.uk) to make sure you get a place!
