Within a week, you’ll be able to see the designs drawn up by the five shortlisted firms for the job of renovating Arnold Circus. They’ll be displayed locally, be on a moving van, and above all, on this blogsite. We intend for it to be interactive, and for you to be able to key your comments in directly. So keep watching! All comments will be fed into the steering group who will interview and decide in the second half of June.
The basis for the work is the visionary Arnold Circus Conservation Strategy drawn up by a steering group of representatives of the Friends, BETRA, English Heritage and the Council. It proposes a process in which local people can be involved in different stages of the developments and in which local needs can be truly reflected, rather than its all simply being presented – as too often happens – as a take-it-or-leave-it done deal.
Thanks to Virginia Primary School who created their own large bits of signposting, that make use of the big Council noticeboards in their own bright creatvie way.
