An Update from T Loughman – 21 April
Works have commenced on the restoration of the bandstand. This has been stripped out and carpentry and roofing repairs are ongoing. Reinstatement of the concrete drainage channel on the upper level is 90% completed. The electric duct and ring main are now completed. This will provide power for events and the rainwater diverters that water the planting beds. Grit blasting of the railings is complete and railing repairs are 75% completed.
Resurfacing to the upper level is scheduled to commence today. Re-grading of the soil and installation of a soil stabilisation mesh in the planting beds will begin shortly. This will prevent future soil slippage that has caused problems in the past, where soil has piled up around the base of the railings, causing them to rust.
