Happy 100th Birthday, Arnold Circus!

May 17, 2010

Here are three special opportunities  :

1) PAVILION BRASS BAND, 3-5pm, Sunday 23rd May, 2010

Come and get a special preview of the new Arnold Circus in its state restoration this coming Sunday, May 23rd. It’s still officially closed with work (as you’ll see) still to be done, but you can get an idea of the future Circus. Join us in celebrating Arnold Day, with special Arnold cakes devised by Arnold & Hutchinson in honour of Sir Arthur Arnold’s birthday in May 1833, a brochure ‘Who is Arnold Circus?’ and music from our very favourite Pavilion Brass Band.  From 3 to 5 and free.

2)   Wanted : Film-Makers !

If you live around Arnold Circus, you could be part of a team that learns how to use extraordinarily small video cameras and will take them away to shoot material that will turn into an online video.  One half day training and another of feedback is involved, and at the end we plan for you to keep the camera. Contact Naseem: for more info.

3)  Centenary  Cookbook

This is the 100th birthday of the bandstand and we are putting a cookbook of 100 recipes together, in partnership with Home Live Art. Send in your favourite recipe, especially if you have a story to go with it about why it is special to you. Drawings and jokes are also welcomed. The deadline is May 28th, so you’ve not got much time. Recipe sheets should be posted into one of the boxes , either at St Hilda’s East Community Centre, Club Row, or at the Community Launderette,  Calvert Avenue. More details  and  a printable version of the Recipe Sheet can be found  at  :
