Experience – the Year’s Best Birthday Party!

July 24, 2010

If you weren’t able to get to Arnold Circus’ birthday party, you can still get to feel the wonder of the event through Richard Kearns’ slideshow

He starts off exploring all the little booths where artists offered free experiences and activities: you could sit in the Draw Me Booth and find out you really can draw; go on a blindfolded explore with Alix and hear sounds you might never have noticed before; sniff the smells of the old Jago and be thankful for progress; make you own CD with Yuri Suzuki… And even more imaginative treats, all of them free.

Up on the bandstand, a variety of bands played, finishing with Brassroots who accompanied the efforts of the people who took up the challenge to cycle 100 times around Arnold Circus – led by the two massive strange customised vehicles created by artists Elliott and Thorburn.

Thanks to all the energies of so many people who brought their talent and good will to the birthday of the year: and especial thanks to Home Live Art who was our partner and the event’s generous producer.

And the biggest birthday cake, with its own small bandstand on the top

Just made the Arnold biscuits from the cookbook. Very big success which was a relief as my kids had enjoyed the ones at the Circus the other month. Thanks to all concerned.

The cake was amazing – a work of art. It was a wonderful day, the best shared picnic. I liked all the tables and chairs put around the path for people to sit at.
