September 6, 2010

Two Worlds of Music on the Circus

Our 100 Years Season ends with two great events both reflecting phases of Arnold Circus’s long, glorious and special history.

Come and share them both with us, before the dark nights set in!

THIS SUNDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 3 – 5pm

Yousuf Ali Khan and his group Surtaal, with music from Bangladesh and the Indian sub-continent.

Surtaal electrified us all when they first played on the bandstand.

They are back this year for the 100 Years, and to celebrate Eid.

You can get an advance taste of the music if you visit the cafe, Maison Delyss, at 3 Columbia Road, E2, where Farid Djebrouni will be playing tracks fronm Surtaal’s CD.

And to open the event, a special introductory act – King Sour DAMC: rap from the Boundary.

A first for the bandstand and not to be missed.

Samosas and music. Free.

SUNDAY 19th SEPTEMBER 3 – 5pm

Klezmer Klub with their infectious spirited Yiddish folk music. Klezmer Klub have also discovered songs that grew out of old Whitechapel when it was home to the Jewish diaspora, fleeing from persecution in central Europe.
