Worlds and Worlds of Music on the Bandstand
Klezmer Klub have unearthed a wonderful treasure of old nostalgic songs composed by the Jewish refugees who made their home in old Whitechapel and Spitalfields.
The six-person group will be playing klezmer music – so lively you won’t be able to hear it without wanting to dance – and singing songs that hark back to the old days of settlement, on the bandstand at Arnold Circus this Sunday between 3 and 5.
Come and listen, come and share in memories of the old days when, in 1914, 98% of the children spoke Yiddish as their mother-tongue. Pick up a copy of the Friends’ DVD, ‘Memories and Futures’ that contains voices of people today who still recall those days of settlement on the much-loved Boundary Estate.

And thank you to Yousuf Ali Khan and his group, Surtaal, who provided such great music and dance on the Circus, to mark Eid and the 100th birthday yesterday.
And to Yassin aka King Sour DAMC who introduced the event with his rap.
