Carrom Day on Arnold Circus – coming up!
Can you play carrom? Would you like to have a go? Here’s your chance to try your hand, have a game and help to raise money for research into childhood cancer – the second biggest killer of children in the UK, after accidents.
Sunday June 19th, between 1 and 5, is CARROM MARATHON DAY on Arnold Circus.
There’ll be open boards or all to play, and instructors for anyone who is new to the game. And samosas, masala chai and lassi.
But the centre of the day is Carrom Marathon Man – the Carrom Cafe and Shop’s star player – who will attempt to play 50 games, one after the other. If he does it, £1,000 goes to Great Ormond Street Hospital. Can he manage it?? You can help.
He needs people to come and line up to play. The person who helps him clear the board the quickest will win a prize.* And he needs people to cheer him on.
Come and play. Come and learn, if you don’t know carrom yet. And if you’d like to help out – as a steward or trainer – let us know. We’ll welcome you warmly. Sign-up sheets are in Leila’s, next to Arnold Circus, and Maison Delys, 3 Columbia Road.
And here are the rules ….
and a video
* The winner will be announced at the Friends of Arnold Circus Annual Meeting – on Arnold Circus itself – the next evening (Monday June 20th) at 7pm.
